Human Anatomy from Real CT Scans
115 structures, 8 body systems, two real bodies
Summary
Explore the inside of the human body in 3D, built from the CT scans of two real patients, one male and one female. Switch body systems on and off, click any of the 115 structures to learn what it does, and compare organ volumes between the two bodies.
In depth
Most anatomy models are drawn by artists. These are not: every bone, organ and blood vessel here was traced from a computed tomography (CT) scan by TotalSegmentator, a deep-learning model trained at University Hospital Basel, and then turned into a 3D surface. That is why the shapes look slightly lumpy and personal: the liver is the size this patient's liver really was, the ribs bend the way their ribs bent. The male body (62) and the female body (94) run from the top of the skull to the upper thigh and are grouped into eight systems: skeleton, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, nervous, glands and muscle. Because each structure is measured, you can also read its volume, and see how much two real people differ.
